In 2001, Greg Mortenson was on a solo trek in the Karakoram Mountains when he stumbled upon a small village called Korphe. The village was home to a group of impoverished and illiterate farmers who were struggling to survive. Mortenson was moved by their plight and vowed to help them.

Mortenson returned to the United States and founded the Central Asia Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and healthcare to people in remote and impoverished regions of the world. In 2003, he returned to Korphe and began building a school for the village children.

The school was a success, and Mortenson soon began building schools in other villages in the region. However, his work was not without its challenges. In 2008, he was kidnapped by the Taliban and held for eight months. Despite the danger, Mortenson refused to give up on his mission.

Since his release, Mortenson has continued to build schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has also written several books about his experiences, including the best-selling Three Cups of Tea. His work has helped to improve the lives of thousands of people, and he has inspired countless others to make a difference in the world.

How The Mission To Help One Became Calling To Rescue Thousands From The Taliban

Greg Mortenson's story is an inspiring example of how one person can make a difference in the world. He is a true hero who has dedicated his life to helping others. His work is a testament to the power of compassion and the importance of never giving up on your dreams.
