Blue Rage Black Redemption: A Memoir of Pain, Hope, and Transformation
My mother, Delois Livingston, was a force of nature. She was a loving and devoted mother, but she was also a woman who struggled with her own inner demons. Addiction was a constant presence in her life, and her struggles had a profound impact on my childhood.

Growing up, I was constantly exposed to the violence and chaos that addiction can bring. I witnessed my mother being abused both physically and emotionally. I saw her lose jobs, relationships, and homes. I lived in fear of what would happen to her and to me.
As a result of my childhood trauma, I developed my own coping mechanisms. I became withdrawn and isolated. I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain. By the time I was a teenager, I was spiraling out of control.
I dropped out of school, lost my job, and alienated my friends and family. I was living on the streets and addicted to heroin. I was at my lowest point, and I didn't know how to save myself.
One day, I was arrested and charged with a felony. I was facing prison time, and I knew that if I didn't get help, I would end up dead or in jail. That's when I reached out to my mother for help.
My mother had been sober for several years by this point, and she was working as a counselor at a drug treatment center. She agreed to help me get into treatment, and I spent the next year in rehab.
Rehab was the hardest thing I've ever done, but it also saved my life. I learned to understand my addiction and the underlying trauma that had led to it. I learned how to cope with my emotions in a healthy way. I learned how to forgive myself and others.
When I left rehab, I was a different person. I was no longer the angry and lost boy who had been haunted by his past. I was a man who had found hope and redemption.
Since then, I've dedicated my life to helping others who are struggling with addiction and mental health issues. I work as a counselor at the same drug treatment center where my mother works, and I'm passionate about helping others find the same hope and redemption that I found.
Blue Rage Black Redemption is my story of addiction, recovery, and transformation. It is a story of pain, but it is also a story of hope. It is a story that shows that even in the darkest of times, there is always light to be found.
If you are struggling with addiction or mental health issues, I urge you to seek help. There is hope for recovery, and you don't have to do it alone.
